Whichdoctorwatson? is a musical project established in 2011 in Berlin. The personnel constellation of Which Doctor Watson? is in a constant state of flux. A loose collaboration of musical curiosities work outside most accepted limits of taste and genre conducting wild experiments in sonic research and pushing the aural boundaries of poetry.<\/span><\/p>

Circular hymns was the title of the first stage production and debut CD release from Which Doctor Watson?\u2019s. Its debut was at Slaughterhouse on May 4th 2012. <\/span>Ancient and modern technology collide head-on in \u201ccircular hymns\u201d , a musical journey to the ends of the earth and beyond. The didgeridoo and the digital sampler, both circular in the nature of their elements combine to reveal a new, unchartered world of music experience. <\/span>Matthew McGrath, the front man, played didgeridoo, alto saxophone, percussion, xylophone, guitar and vocals live, samples the music then arranges the samples to compose a rich variety of songs and sound sculptures that are highly original, moving and entertaining. Ballads, hymns, poems, thundering jigs and urban blues and atmospheric instrumentals offer a constant change of style and pace to the program of the circular hymns concerts and CD.<\/span><\/p>

The \u201ccircular hymns\u201d project is forged in the fulcrum of darkly joyous experimentation and exploration of sound and passion.<\/span>
<\/span>Each song is built around its lyrics, texts are central to much of the music. The instrumental works are set free to explore unknown musical territories. The didgeridoo and the \u201cJam Man\u201d sampler combine to create unusual but moving music never heard before. Songs of reflection, passion and irreverence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

The circular nature of repetition in the didgeridoo, of one the world\u2019s oldest musical instruments and the digital sampler, one of the newest, gives the project its name.<\/span><\/p>

Whichdoctorwatson?\u2019s upcoming stage production and album is titled \u201cShonky Downtime in Heterotopia\u201d is nearing completion and scheduled for release and performance in the autumn of 2027.
